Jakartakita.com – Ajang penghargaan tahunan yang ke- 44, E! People’s Choice Awards 2018 diselenggarakan pada tanggal 11 November lalu, di Barker Hanger, Los Angeles.
Pembawa acara pada ajang penghargaan ikonik yang disiarkan langsung di E! ini meliputi Chrissy Teigen, Busy Philipps, Will Ferrell, John Legend dan masih banyak lagi.
Sebagai satu-satunya ajang penghargaan oleh orang-orang, untuk orang – orang dan dengan rumah barunya di E!, pemenang People’s Choice Awards 2018 dipilih langsung oleh para penggemar di seluruh dunia.
Perayaan diawali dengan tayangan red carpet yang disiarkan secara langsung.
Dalam siaran pers yang diterima Jakartakita.com, Kamis (15/11/2018), disebutkan bahwa di tahun ini terdapat 43 kategori yang meliputi 13 kategori baru (termasuk Game Changer of 2018, Revival Show of 2018, and Concert Tour of 2018) untuk para penggemar memilih film, musik, TV, dan digital space favorit mereka.
Pada daftar panjang pemenang ada banyak kejutan dan juga pemenang yang tidak diprediksi sebelumnya.
Di kategori film, Avengers : Infinity War memenangkan lebih dari satu penghargaan sebagai The Movie of 2018 dan The Action Movie of 2018 bersaing dengan film besutan Marvel lainnya, Black Panther.
Sementara itu, pada kategori TV, Kardashian kembali mendapatkan simpati para penggemarnya. Keluarga Kardashian membawa pulang penghargaan sebagai Reality Show of 2018 dan Khloe Kardashian memperoleh penghargaan sebagai Reality TV Star of 2018.
Yang tak kalah mengejutkan, tahun ini boy band asal Korea Selatan, BTS menjadi salah satu yang memperoleh penghargaan terbanyak yaitu empat penghargaan meliputi Song of 2018, Music Video of 2018, Group of 2018, and Social Celebrity of 2018.
Selain itu, terdapat tiga penghargaan spesial pada E! People’s Choice Award tahun ini. Penghargaan tersebut diberikan kepada Melissa McCarthy dan Victoria Beckham, yang sebelumnya telah diumumkan sebagai pemenang untuk kategori People’s Icon of 2018 dan Fashion Icon of 2018.
Penghargaan spesial lainnya diberikan kepada Bryan Stevenson sebagai People’s Champion Award.
