Apple Rilis OS Preview Mountain Lion
Jakartakita.Com: Apple (NASDAQ:APPL) mengumumkan versi Developer Preview untuk OS yang akan datang yakni 
dengan nama kode “Mountain Lion“.
Developer Preview untuk Rilis Mountain ini muncul tepat satu tahun setelah versi Mac OSX 10.7 dengan nama kode “Lion“.
Dengan dirilisnya Mountain Lion ini, Apple melanjutkan trend barunya dengan mensejajarkan Mac OS dengan fitur pertamanya di sistem operasi iOS nya. (iOS adalah sistem operasi perangkat genggam dari Apple). Sistem Operasi Mobile iOS pada awalnya mempreteli versi mobile dari Mac OS. Saat rilis sekarang, iOS telah menambahkan beberapa fitur yang tidak ada di Mac OS, karena makin populernya perangkat iOS ini.
Rilis iOS 5 memperkenalkan ‘notification center’ yang baru, mirip dengan yang dimiliki oleh pengguna Android, dengan Notification center, semua sistem, program dan informasi digabung menjadi satu tampilan (single view). Dengan Rilisnya Mountain Lion ini, Apple juga akan memberikan fitur notifikasi ini di Mac OS juga.
Fitur utama lainnya di iOS 5 yang akan muncul di Mac OS juga adalah Messages Application. Messages ini menggantikan iChat Apple yang merupakan layanan pesan singkat (instant messaging). Messages ini sudah mendukung AIM, Yahoo! Messenger juga Google Talk untuk memberikan kemudahan untuk pengguna Mountain Lion melakukan Chatting dengan layanan yang beragam.
Rilis Mountain Lion juga memiliki Notes app yang sudah ada di versi sebelumnya. Notes adalah aplikasi catatan yang bisa diintegrasikan dengan gambar dan konten Video.
Juga ada fungsi iCloud untuk sinkronisasi data untuk pengguna OS Mac melalui perangkat iOS mereka.
Fitur layanan iCloud ini telah tersedia di rilis saat ini versi 10.7 (Lion).
Bagaimanapun versi 10.8 Mountain Lion, Apple merencanakan integrasi yang lebih baik dengan fungsi fitur yang lebih banyak lagi.
Menurut Apple, sudah sekitar 100 juta orang yang telah memiliki akun iCloud.
Mountain Lion juga akan memperkenalkan fitur keamanan terbaru yang disebut Gatekeeper. Dengan Gatekeeper, Apple memberikan kendali lebih bagi user mereka tentang aplikasi apa yang bisa di download dan di install di Mac sistem mereka. Selain mengaktifkan situs sumber untuk download, dengan Gatekeeper, pengguna Mountain Lion bisa membatasi download hanya dari Mac OS AppStore atau pada pengembang/developer yang punya ID Apple Developer tertentu saja.
Mac OS 10.8 Mountain Lion saat ini masih untuk preview Para Pengembang/Developer, dan mungkin akan bisa tersedia untuk public pertengahan tahun 2012 ini.

Documents in the Cloud
When users create and edit documents in your iCloud enabled apps, changes are automatically pushed to all their devices so they can access the latest version through your app from any Mac, iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. And with the new Share Sheets, users can share documents instantly from your app through Mail, iChat and AirDrop.
Game Center
Connect users to other Mac and iOS game players around the world and bring the excitement of multiplayer and turn-based gaming to your Mac apps. Game Kit APIs authenticate player accounts, access friend information, report and display scores, unlock achievements, provide multiplayer functionality and manage voice chats between players.
Notification Center
Notification Center provides users with a streamlined and unified view of notifications from third-party apps, along with Mail, iCal, iChat, Reminders and system updates, from anywhere on their Mac. With Mountain Lion, new APIs let you alert users of important events happening within your app through Notification Center.
Let users easily share links, photos, and their location through Twitter, without leaving your app. Users can add comments to content they tweet and receive alerts when they are mentioned in a tweet with Notification Center. Single sign-on automatically sets up Twitter on enabled apps, so users can start sharing right away.
Share Sheets
Share Sheets make it simple for users to share links, photos, and videos directly from your apps. Users can share content through Twitter, Flickr, Vimeo, Messages, Mail, AirDrop, or you can even add your own share destination.
Gatekeeper
OS X Mountain Lion empowers users with a new security feature, giving them control over which apps can be downloaded and installed on their Macs. You can now sign your apps for distribution outside the Mac App Store with the new Developer ID, which lets users know that you are a developer identified with Apple.
